Private Equity Firm Apollo Backs Real-World Asset Platform Plume

Key Points:

  • Plume, a blockchain platform focused on real-world asset tokenization, secured a seven-figure investment from Apollo Global Management-managed funds to enhance its infrastructure.

  • The investment reflects increasing institutional momentum around tokenized assets, as Plume works to make alternative investments more accessible, liquid, and programmable.

Plume, a blockchain platform dedicated to real-world assets (RWAs), announced on Tuesday that it has received an investment from funds managed by private equity firm Apollo Global Management. The funding aims to help scale its infrastructure and bring more traditional financial products onto blockchain networks.

Although the terms of the investment were not revealed, a Plume spokesperson confirmed that the funding is in the "seven-figure" range.

Plume is developing a modular, Ethereum-compatible blockchain aimed at converting a broad spectrum of assets—ranging from financial instruments to carbon credits and collectibles—into usable tokens. The platform’s objective is to create an ecosystem where users can not only store digital versions of real-world assets but also engage in typical crypto activities such as lending, borrowing, swapping, and speculation.

The investment will enable Plume to accelerate its full-stack blockchain development and expand access to its ecosystem. Plume’s testnet currently supports over 18 million user crypto wallets and integrates with more than 200 protocols.

The backing from Apollo, one of the world’s largest alternative asset managers, highlights the increasing institutional interest in tokenized real-world assets. This includes using blockchain technology for traditional assets like bonds, funds, and commodities. According to a recent report from Ripple and Boston Consulting Group, the market for tokenized assets is projected to reach $18.9 trillion by 2033.

For Apollo, which has been exploring digital finance for some time, the investment in Plume represents a commitment to infrastructure designed to enhance liquidity and programmability of alternative assets.

Christine Moy, partner and head of digital assets at Apollo, emphasized, “Our investment in Plume reflects Apollo’s focus on technologies that enhance access to institutional-quality products and provide more innovative client experiences. As private assets and funds move on-chain, Plume’s infrastructure offers a new way to engage investors and drive the development of a more efficient, programmable financial system.”
