In his annual letter to shareholders, Dimon cautioned that the recent tariffs are likely to drive up inflation and increase the likelihood of a recession. He added that while it’s uncertain whether the tariffs will directly cause a recession, they will undoubtedly slow economic growth.

Dimon acknowledged that there are valid reasons for the newly announced tariffs, but emphasized that there will likely be significant short-term impacts. He pointed out that price hikes will affect not only imported goods but also domestic products.

Global markets, including the cryptocurrency sector, have been in a steep decline since Sunday, largely due to expectations surrounding President Trump’s latest tariff announcement on Monday. Bitcoin (BTC) fell below $79,000, marking its lowest point since November. It is now trading flat at $78,235 over the past 24 hours. The broader cryptocurrency market, which tracks the top assets by market cap, is down more than 10% today and nearly 20% over the past month.

Dimon expressed support for Trump’s "America First" foreign policy but emphasized that it should not result in an "America alone" approach. He warned that if the Western world’s military and economic alliances were to disband, America’s strength would inevitably diminish over time.
