VivoPower Pioneers $100M XRP Treasury Strategy via Flare, Embraces Ripple’s RLUSD for Institutional DeFi Push

Nasdaq-listed VivoPower International PLC (NASDAQ: VVPR) made a bold strategic announcement on June 11, 2025: it is deploying $100 million in XRP via the Flare Network to generate institutional-grade yield through decentralized finance, and adopting Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin for its treasury operations.

This marks a pivotal shift from VivoPower’s traditional sustainable energy solutions toward becoming the first XRP‑focused digital asset enterprise. Proceeds from a fresh $121 million private share placement—led by Saudi Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Talal Al Saud—will primarily support its XRP treasury strategy, debt reduction, and working capital requirements.

Flare’s FAssets system, which tokenizes XRP into a form usable in DeFi protocols like Firelight, enables this deployment. The objective: continuously reinvest yield to compound its XRP holdings—creating what VivoPower calls an “XRPFi” engine for shareholder value.

CEO Kevin Chin emphasized:

“It’s no longer enough to simply hold XRP; the duty to our shareholders is to make it productive,”
highlighting RLUSD as a stable, regulatory-compliant building block of their next-gen digital treasury.

Flare co‑founder Hugo Philion described the partnership as institutional validation of Flare’s capabilities:

“More than just a bridge; it’s a gateway… generate yield, all while retaining fundamental security.”.

VivoPower benefits from operational guidance from former Ripple Asia leadership and backing from key global investors. Flare, valued at around $1.9 billion, recently attracted $90 million in TVL via its USDT0 stablecoin, showcasing its readiness for institutional-scale activity.

Market implications are significant. XRP has already broken out of a falling‑wedge pattern, trading near $2.32, with technical analysts eyeing $2.53 as a potential breakout target. Meanwhile, Bloomberg has raised the probability of a spot XRP ETF approval to 85%, reinforcing strong regulatory and market momentum.

Internally, VivoPower has set June 12, 2025 as the ex-dividend date related to Tembo transactions—another thread in its financial maneuvering.

This initiative signifies a watershed moment: a public company deploying significant capital into XRP-based DeFi, not merely holding, but leveraging it to actively generate yield. By reinvesting profits into XRP and maintaining liquidity with RLUSD, VivoPower signals a comprehensive treasury overhaul—potentially setting standards for what it terms “XRPFi”: digital asset treasury operations optimized for institutions.

Success hinges on Flare’s protocol robustness, regulatory clarity for stablecoins and XRP, and broader crypto market stability. If it proves durable, VivoPower’s model may act as a template for other corporations looking to integrate productive crypto strategies into their balance sheets.
