Standard Chartered Projects Solana to Reach $275 by 2025 and $500 by 2029 Despite Valuation Concerns
Standard Chartered Bank has projected that Solana (SOL) could reach $275 by the end of 2025 and $500 by the end of 2029. However, the bank also notes that SOL appears overvalued compared to Ethereum (ETH) based on several key metrics.
The bank's analysts, led by Geoff Kendrick, suggest that a potential Donald Trump presidency could lead to more favorable crypto regulations and the approval of spot-based Solana ETFs, which might boost SOL's performance. Conversely, a Kamala Harris-led administration could be less favorable to smaller cryptocurrencies like Solana, potentially impacting its performance negatively.
Despite these projections, the bank cautions that Solana's valuation metrics suggest the market is pricing in a very optimistic future for the cryptocurrency. For instance, SOL's market capitalization to network fee revenue ratio is 250, more than double Ethereum's ratio of 121. Additionally, Solana's annual supply growth is around 5.5%, compared to Ethereum's 0.5%, which affects their respective staking yields.
While Standard Chartered acknowledges the potential for Solana's growth, it also highlights the risks associated with its current valuation, suggesting that investors should approach with caution.
