June 2025 Could Ignite a Major Altcoin Season as Bitcoin’s Market Dominance Faces Decline, Expert Forecasts

João Wedson, CEO of Alphractal, forecasts a significant shift in the cryptocurrency market, predicting a full-blown altcoin season in June 2025. This projection comes as Bitcoin's dominance in the market shows signs of weakening.

Bitcoin's dominance, which measures its share of the total cryptocurrency market capitalization, has been a key indicator of market trends. Historically, when Bitcoin's dominance decreases, capital tends to flow into altcoins, leading to what is commonly referred to as "altcoin season." Recent data indicates that Bitcoin's dominance has slipped below 60%, a level not seen since late 2021, signaling a potential shift towards altcoins.

Wedson's analysis suggests that this decline in Bitcoin dominance is not merely a short-term fluctuation but part of a broader cyclical pattern. He points to historical instances where similar decreases in dominance were followed by substantial rallies in altcoin markets. For example, in December 2024, Bitcoin's dominance dropped to 58.53%, a level that historically has preceded significant altcoin rallies.

The Altcoin Season Index, a tool that tracks the performance of the top 100 altcoins over a 90-day period, has recently shown a score of 65, indicating that altcoins are outperforming Bitcoin. This index is a valuable metric for investors looking to gauge the strength of the altcoin market relative to Bitcoin.

Wedson's prediction of an altcoin season in June 2025 aligns with current market indicators and historical trends. As Bitcoin's dominance wanes, altcoins are poised to capture investor attention, potentially leading to significant gains in the coming months.
