David Bailey, Trump Crypto Adviser, Raising $300 Million to Launch Bitcoin Investment Firm
David Bailey, a prominent cryptocurrency advocate and CEO of BTC Inc., is reportedly in advanced discussions to launch a publicly traded Bitcoin investment firm named Nakamoto. This venture aims to acquire and hold substantial amounts of Bitcoin, positioning itself similarly to companies like MicroStrategy, which have adopted Bitcoin as a core asset. Bailey, who served as a crypto policy adviser during Donald Trump's 2024 presidential campaign, is said to have raised $300 million for this initiative, comprising $200 million in equity and $100 million in convertible debt.
The firm plans to go public through a merger with a Nasdaq-listed company, with an official announcement and listing expected in the coming weeks. Nakamoto's strategy involves expanding its global footprint by acquiring businesses in countries such as Brazil, Thailand, and South Africa, integrating Bitcoin into their capital structures. The firm is reportedly backed by high-profile investors and boasts an advisory board featuring prominent figures from the financial and crypto sectors.
Bailey's initiative aligns with a broader trend of increasing institutional interest in Bitcoin. For instance, Tokyo-based Metaplanet has issued $24.8 million in bonds to purchase more Bitcoin and plans to raise up to $250 million through a new U.S. arm in Florida. Additionally, Strategy, another Bitcoin treasury firm, aims to double its Bitcoin acquisition fund to $42 billion via stock offerings, having already acquired 553,555 BTC. These developments highlight a growing recognition of Bitcoin as a legitimate asset class among institutional investors.
Bailey has been an outspoken proponent of Bitcoin's potential to serve as a global reserve asset. He has advocated for the establishment of a U.S. Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, suggesting that such a move could prompt other nations to follow suit, accelerating Bitcoin's adoption worldwide. Bailey predicts that Bitcoin could reach a value of $1 million per coin within the next four years, driven by its growing adoption and the systemic challenges faced by traditional financial systems. This projection signifies more than just a price milestone—it represents a fundamental shift in the global economic order.
The launch of Nakamoto and the broader institutional interest in Bitcoin underscore a significant shift in the financial landscape, with digital assets increasingly being recognized as integral components of investment portfolios and national economic strategies.
