Circle Targets $7.2B Valuation in Enlarged U.S. IPO Amid Surging Investor Demand and Crypto Market Revival

Circle Internet Financial, the issuer of the USDC stablecoin, has significantly increased both the size and pricing range of its upcoming U.S. initial public offering (IPO), now targeting a valuation of approximately $7.2 billion. This adjustment reflects robust investor demand and a more favorable regulatory environment for cryptocurrencies.

IPO Details and Financial Performance

In its revised IPO filing, Circle plans to offer 32 million shares at a price range of $27 to $28 each, up from the previous plan of 24 million shares priced between $24 and $26. At the midpoint of the new range, Circle aims to raise approximately $880 million. The company reported earnings of $64.8 million on revenue of $578.6 million in the first quarter of 2025, indicating strong profitability.

Market Context and Strategic Positioning

Circle's IPO comes amid a resurgence in the cryptocurrency market, with increased investor confidence and a more supportive regulatory stance under the current U.S. administration. The company's USDC stablecoin, the second-largest by market capitalization, stands to benefit from anticipated stablecoin regulations, which could further boost institutional adoption. Circle has also secured significant partnerships and investments from major financial institutions, including Coinbase, BlackRock, and Fidelity.

Historical Valuation and Future Outlook

Previously, Circle attempted to go public via a $9 billion SPAC deal in 2022, which was ultimately canceled due to regulatory uncertainties and market downturns. Despite a lower valuation in secondary markets earlier, the current IPO reflects renewed investor interest and confidence in Circle's business model and the broader crypto ecosystem.

Circle's IPO is set to be one of the most significant crypto-related public offerings since Coinbase's debut, marking a pivotal moment for the integration of digital assets into mainstream financial markets.
